Ross Printing offers seed paper printing for packaging, invitations, greeting cards, business cards, marketing materials and more. Make an impact on people with paper that grows – literally.
Seed paper printing is a unique approach to marketing materials such as business cards and coasters, as well as product packaging. Once you’re through using it, just plant the seed paper in healthy soil and it will flourish in as little as 5 days with a little water and sunshine. Our seed paper is available in many different colors and we can do seed paper printing in any design and color you like.
How does seed paper printing & planting work?
Our seed paper is made from 100% post-consumer recycled paper product and wildflower seed blends. The ink we use for seed paper printing is water based, so it won’t harm the seeds and the finished product comes out beautifully printed every time. And remember, all manufacturing at Ross Printing is done with 100% Wind Power!
Our seed paper has many varieties of seeds depending on what is in season and most blends will germinate in 5-7 days. We can even create a custom mix of seeds for you if you’d like. Usually, the seed paper include Alyssum, Catchfly, Siberian Wallflower, Black-Eyed Susan, Baby Blue Eyes, Red Corn Poppy, Spurred Snapdragon, English Daisy, Showy Evening Primrose, Gold Yarrow, Roman Chamomile, Tussock Bellflower, Foxglove, Monkey Flower, Creeping Thyme and other seeds.
Why Ross Printing for Seed Paper
Our method of printing is designed to to be a non-impact method. Our method was completely R & D by our folks internally to provide a printing solution that is:
• High Quality
• Predictable, accurate printing, every time!
• The printing method does not kill or sterilize the seeds
• We can take any kind of seed paper finish and get great results
We get phone calls on a daily basis from other printers around North America asking us what are secret is. Obviously, when you’ve put as much R & D into the process as we have, we are apt to keep the secret here. But many times, offset lithographers will attempt to run seed paper through their presses. We feel this is a poor approach to the solution.
First, the process uses chemicals for ink adhesion that will sterilize the seeds. Second, the process also uses pressure to impress the ink on the paper. This pressure smashes the seeds and they will not germinate. Finally, if the chemicals and the pressure don’t do it, you have to run heaters at temperatures upwards of 120 degrees Fahrenheit to cure the ink. And if that doesn’t convince you, the rough surface of the paper doesn’t allow for consistent, smooth and even transfer of ink to the sheet. A nightmare if you’re trying to run a full color job. You’ll end up with a ink colors that don’t line up, seeds that won’t germinate and a poor product overall.
We guarantee our seeds will germinate. We guarantee our print methods are the best in North America (and China, too) for seed paper.
